I had so much fun hearing everyone’s thoughts on last week’s WIAW about how blogging can feel like a “secret identity” at times. It sounds like a lot of people keep it on the down low but don’t necessarily hide their blogs. But I’m totally impressed with the folks who know how to rock their own network. Since it’s something most of us spend so much time on I’m surprised we don’t talk about it more… or maybe that’s why we don’t talk about it? To give ourselves a break, or to enjoy the anonymity that comes with an online community… but I digress. If you’re curious definitely check out what everyone had to say!
Today I’d like to pick your brains about staying in touch. Unless you’re the luckiest human alive, I’m sure there’s at least a handful of people you care about that are far away. In my case, a large majority of my closest lovers and frands are at least an hour away. I haven’t been doing spectacular job at staying in touch.
I blame this on 2 things.
A.) Obvious reason: I’m lazy. I seriously could be doing so much more, even little texts saying “hi” – but I’m anxious about having to revert to small talk with close friends. It’s painful. But still, I could go long form and at least try to write a nice juicy email once in a while… but there’s another reason.
Reason B.) It hurts. Staying in touch is a constant reminder of how much work it takes to make long distance anything work. The more effort you put in the more it hurts. Sometimes putting people out of mind can help ease that a little. I know this sounds super harsh, but maybe that’s just my non-so-well-adapted coping mechanism. Can anyone relate?
#LeSigh…. sorry if I’ve hijacked your appetites to talk about other things, I just loved last week’s convo so much I wanted to see how you felt about this!
But let’s talk food right…..MEOW
