It’s no big secret I love coffee – and obviously I’m not alone. Often when I come back from New York I buy a bag of fresh beans from a local joint and my bag ends up smelling heavenly. Why isn’t that a room fragrance? Maybe I’ll just convert my apartment into a coffee roaster. A girl can dream right?
Before I shared yesterday’s eats I wanted to chat about how you take your coffee. I think it’s fascinating to find out people’s preferences. I’m nosey partially because I know how picky I am about my coffee. I don’t know why but I’ve never really liked dairy milk in coffee. I know, for a self proclaimed coffee snob it’s kind of embarrassing that I’m a “soy drinker” but I just prefer the taste. I know soy won’t kill me, but it’s also not the best thing in the world if you can avoid it.
I was reminded of how particular I am this morning when I tried Starbuck’s version of a flat white. It was made with whole milk (even though I asked for soy) and at first I didn’t hate it. The foam was incredible and it’s by far the best espresso from Starbucks I’ve had, but after a while the milk taste just didn’t sit with me.
I’ve tried almond milk in coffee and it just doesn’t cut it. I love almond milk for smoothies and recipes, but my coffee needs something with a little more oomph. Lately I’ve been looking for different coconut creamers including one from So Delicious and blending my coffee with coconut cream from Trader Joe’s (that is supa delish). But I digress, I really just want to know about you!
So I want to know how do you take your coffee (milk, soy, almond, hemp, coconut, sugar, sweetener, black) ?
And if you’re not a coffee drinker what else do you enjoy ordering at a café?
Ok, Ok, I’ll shut up about coffee – let’s eat.
Breakfast: Yogurt, almond butter & homemade gingerbread granola (let me know if you want the recipe, but I’ll warn you it’s almost too easy to make and even easier to eat)
Lunch: Quinoa, arugula, edamame, raisin, carrots with tahini
Snacks: Apple, Somersaults & S’more quest bar
Dinner: Shaved brussels sprouts, pesto, edamame & sweet potato
Dessert: More granola…. see! I told you it’s addicting.
