Tart juicy raspberries and sweet mango blend together smoother than a Jay Z and Beyonce song in this spring time smoothie.
I know the first day of spring is technically in March but I don’t think it was really until this week that I’m juuuust starting to kind of sort of maybe slightly believe that spring is a thing that’s happening… possibly. The way I feel about spring is same way you feel after you’ve just ended a really rocky, dramatic relationship (aka this brutal effing winter) and you’re super jaded towards any signs of new love (aka nicer weather, blue skies… being able to see the grass). You want to believe, you really do, but you’re just afraid of being hurt again. I’ve seen it happen before. Snow at the end of April.
Besides the slightly warmer temps there are some other signs of spring that I am willing to embrace. This time of year I get the itch to start running again after a winter of focusing on muscle building. I look for excuses to walk as much as possible, soaking in any ounce of vitamin D I can get. Seasonal shops start opening their doors, bikinis and shorts start going on sale, veggies start coming into season, things are looking up people.
Maybe it’s just me, but this time of year, around April and May I sense a lot of change and growth. I’m an excitable person, so any chance I get to be overly optimistic about the future, I’ll take it. In my experience, Spring is a much better time for fresh starts than January. I’m also getting close to the one year mark on my graduation last May. I definitely want to take the time to really step back and reflect on this first year of my post-grad life and make sure I’m being purposeful moving forward.
Spring time is also prime for smoothie action. I mean, you know me, everytime is prime time for smoothie action, but for the general population spring and summer are blendin’ season.
Today I’m sharing what might be one of my favorite fruit combos: Raspberry Mango. I love raspberries because they’re tart and bursting with berry flavor. I love mangos because they’re sweet with a creamy meaty texture. Put these two together and it’s better than a Jay Z and Yoncé track. Bey hive please don’t hurt me.
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 1 Cup of Frozen Mango
- 1 Cup of Raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- 4-8oz of coconut or almond milk (depending on how thick you like your smoothie)
- Optional:
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
- 1 handful of spinach
- Place all ingredients in a blender until smooth
- If using a regular blender add liquid first, if using a Magic or Nutribullet add liquid last
Your Turn:
What signals do you look for to tell you it’s spring?

Oh I can taste those tart raspberries now! Yum! I will certainly be trying this one out…thanks!!
Raspberries are definitely a staple in my smoothies – they just add so much flavor!
This looks so thick and creamy! YUM!!!!
I’m a “eat your smoothie with a spoon” kinda gal 😉
This smoothie is so thick like ice cream mmmmmm. Spring signs=birds chirping, even though I think I heard them chirping when there was still snow on the ground sooooo idk if that’s the greatest indication.
Any sign of life after this winter is promising!
Mango and raspberry are two of my favorite fruits and seeing them together in a smoothie looks absolutely delicious! And now I am off to listen to some Queen Bey in the sunshine 😉
One of my favorite combos eva! Bey in the sunshine is all I need <3
YUM, I love super thick smoothies! They always remind me of fruity milkshakes, or even Blizzards 🙂 When it starts to feel warm on my runs, I know spring is here!
I know, I’m thinking I might have to get out of my gym routine and start running outdoors again! It’s so fun seeing so many runners everywhere in Boston this time of year
This is EVERYTHING. I love a good, creamy smoothie with lots of fruit. Spring has finally sprung here in Seattle too which is exciting! My mom has a raspberry bush in the backyard that makes the bestttttt raspberries and they would be amazing in this recipe!
So. Jealous. There’s nothing like fresh picked berries. What a treat!
I also listen for the chirping of birds but I think that the sky has a very different look than a winter sky does….even if it’s a rainy/cloudy spring day lol. That is one beautay of a smoothay by the way, gonna def try it.
Hey, I was wondering if you’ve ever tried Elli Quark’s “Greek yogurt”? (It’s supposedly vegetarian, less sour/creamier than traditional Greek yogurt and has really clean macros).https://www.elliquark.com/
Also, I’ve been hearing about these bars called “No Cow Bars”–plant based/vegan…. you can find em’ at iherb.com for cheaper.
Now that you mention in, I definitely agree about the skies. I also think Spring/Summer have a different smell too. (or is that just all the mulch…lol)
Oo thanks for the product suggestions. I have tried Elli and I like a few of the flavors. The red velvet with some extra coco powder mixed in was really yummy!
Lol! mmm mulch, I totally forgot about that Spring fragrance!
Sweet, now that you’ve given it the A-Okay, I’m def gonna have to try Red Velvet Quark yogurt out! <3
Let me know what you think! <3
I’m heading to Costco and cannot wait to pick up some raspberries and maybe even some mango…It’s definitely Spring here in Houston and I am taking advantage of these beautiful days, before that heat and humidity come in! Thanks for sharing! XOXO
So true! Even when it’s a little chilly I’m trying to walk everywhere on the weekends just so I can be outside. I’ll take every ounce of vitamin D I can get!
Yummmm, my favorite way to eat smoothies is with a spoon. When the strawberry produce man starts selling strawberries out of the back of his truck in town, I know springs a coming , love that guy. 😉
Dude that’s awesome! I need a strawberry man in my life.
When florals start to appear on mannequins, I know Spring is near 🙂 this smoothie looks so good and thick. How do you get it to be so thick and smooth? Does it all depend on how much liquid? also, what kind of blender do you use?
My secret for uber thick smoothies? Frozen nanners, little to no liquid and a food processor. The one I have is hamilton beach and I don’t think it cost more than $40 and I use it multiple times a week. Such a great kitchen tool. On busy days I also have a nutribullet which I really like, but nothing works quite like the food processor.
I am in love with mango!!!! Why haven’t I put mango and raspberries together ever? This looks so thick and delish, just the way I like my smoothies! Yum!
The mango raspberry combo is the bomb – they just balance each other so well.
