4-Ingredient Vegan Cookie Dough Bites

April 28, 2016 by Georgie @ The Long Run

4-Ingredient Vegan Cookie Dough Bites

I will not make jokes about balls. I will not make jokes about balls. I will not make jokes about balls. Ok, cool now that I have that out of my system we can actually get down to business. In fact, I even named this recipe 4-Ingredient Vegan Cookie Dough Bites precisely so I wouldn’t make so many damn ball jokes this time. It’s an easy target my friends, an easy target.

Speaking of balls, I know I said I wouldn’t, but you all knew that was a lie, let’s talk about how weird we all are.

I have a theory that everyone is secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) super weird and we’re all just waiting to find the people who can jive with our special brand of weirdness.

Since graduating from college, almost two years ago (god I can’t believe it’s already been two years) I feel like my life has been a(n often awkward) series of trying to meet knew people and make new friends. Growing up it’s much easier because you’ve got a captive audience of your peers literally surrounding you. In college, you’re even more segregated into your major which makes finding people with similar interests almost too easy.

But alas, the so called “real world” is a little different. Meeting new friends feels a whole lot more like dating than it ever used to. And like dating you’ve gotta get through the small talk to figure out when exactly will this person find out how weird I really am. I’ve definitely found that the best clues are hidden in the person’s sense of humor. Are they sarcastic, dark, dry, goofy…or do they take themselves too seriously to have a sense of humor *bye*.

giphy

My personal test for most people’s sense of humor is figuring out what TV shows they like. Btw, if you’re humor lies in the combination of the Office, Parks and Rec, New Girl and 30 Rock then we’re already BFFs, hit me up let’s hang out. If you pass the TV test, sometimes I’ll go the next step and see if you’re into stand up, but that’s like extra credit.

Anyway, passing the Georgie’s Patented Humor Test is major in my eyes. If you can find a way to make each other laugh, I seriously think you can get over most other road blocks.

Finding the people who understand, share and embrace your special brand of weirdness might just be the key to unlocking an awesome friendship or relationship. So I’m saying this as much to myself as I am to you, don’t wait too long to share some of your weirdness with your friends, it’s your special sauce.

Oh and before I forget I wanted to talk about these bites real quick, so I’ve distilled exactly why you’ll love them into 7 reasons.

Love! I can’t photograph balls for the life of me – your pictures of these balls are beautiful! This is shaping up to be a very weird comment.

BUT. I love this line: “we’re all just waiting to find the people who can jive with our special brand of weirdness.” It’s so true! I was just talking to Mark about this last night – I’m struggling to find/keep friends since I graduated last year. Everyone is crazy-busy, has their own life… but I’m ridiculously glad I’ve been able to jive with a ton of amazing girls in BGB 🙂 so thanks for that!

It’s so true – staying connected with old friends can be so tricky especially when people are from all over. So glad you’re part of our magical tribe of weirdos

Friends and The Office are my favorite comedy shows. Of course both ended years ago. You have the right to make all the balls jokes you want because these look incredible.

Dr. Seuss said this I think – something about two people who are a little weird figuring out their mutual weirdness, and that’s what we call love. I’d say it’s true. My BF and I are both total nerds whose humor encompasses Parks and Rec (more New Girl for me, more Always Sunny for him) and I think that’s a great foundation for a relationship 🙂

Parks & Rec and the Office and New Girl- yes!!! Even when I find out someone else loves just the Office, I know our senses of humor will get along justttttt fine.

Making these when I get home since I don’t have a food processor at school- they look JUST like actual cookie dough!

The Office and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia are my JAM.

It’s so true that the sooner you can be your true, weird self around the person, the better off your friendship will be!

I totally feel you on the weirdness test… I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 4+ years and I joke that I wasn’t always this weird, just especially so around him since we’re comfortable with each other.

“I have a theory that everyone is secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) super weird and we’re all just waiting to find the people who can jive with our special brand of weirdness” <— THIS!
When I moved to Sydney in 2014 I had to friend date big time. Me and my BF met this American couple and after a dinner and some dancing with them that involved a dance off where they slut dropped, they were immediate friends. Others with no sense of humours slip off the radar. Life is too short not to show your weirdness and laugh at yourself 🙂
I love stand up too. Want to hop over to Sydney!? It is only a short flight…

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      May 4, 2016 at 7:40 pm

Haha that dance off sounds AMAZING. Yes, spending tons of time with people who don’t make you smile and laugh is just not a happy way to live. Friend dating can be tough but yeah, my strategy of late is being my weird wonderful self outta the gate.
