Here’s a link to an awesome, comprehensive grocery list for runners, but really anyone who is living a healthy lifestyle.

I love this list because it has items from all categories. People label carbs as evils but the emphasis should not be one macro nutrient, but rather how much a food has been altered from its original state.
My simple philosophy:
With ingredient labels less is always more and never let the food get too far from the farm.
Obviously I’m not perfect, but the more whole food I eat the better I feel. Pretty simple.
While I’m here let me just rant a little about “diets.” This isn’t a new opinion, it isn’t ground breaking but it’s honest and realistic from my own experience: Diets suck. They don’t work if you want results that are lasting and maintainable.
Eliminating an entire macro nutrient such as fat or carbs or restricting yourself to the extreme for short blasts and hoping that the resulting weight loss will last is unrealistic and watching yourself gain all the weight back is even more mentally and emotionally draining than never having lost it in the first place.
The slower and more stable the weight loss or I like to consider it “health gain” the more sustainable, lasting and enjoyable the process.
If you hate the gym, don’t force it. Everyone loves exercise, but not everyone loves the same kind.
If you love getting a latte with friends, don’t deny those simple joys, just cut back other places.
Listen to your body.
