My First What I Ate Wednesday 7.1.13

July 3, 2013 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Happy Wednesday everybody! I’m so excited to be doing my very first What I Ate Wednesday (#WIAW).

I remember a year ago my aunt telling me about this blog where every Wednesday everyone would post a full day of eats. After looking it up, I got bit by the blogging bug. Ever since I’ve been a loyal reader of Jen’s and many other wonderful blogs I found largely because of WIAW.

But it wasn’t until recently that I decided to really devote more time to my baby blog. So this very first WIAW is quite special to me:

To start is a variation on my usual breakfast:

  • 1 6oz. Chobani 0% Plain with a Scoop of All-Natural Peanut Butter, ½ Banana and 1 Fig

  • Iced Red Eye from Gregory’s Coffee on Park Ave.

For Lunch:

Sauteed Onions, Brussel Sprouts, Rosemary, Red Pepper, Goat Cheese Avocado with a Sprinkle of Pumpkin Seeds

Snack:

Throughout the day I nibble on some TJ’s candied ginger and Extra Peppermint Gum

Dinner:

Mixed Greens, 2 Tomatoes, 1 oz. of TJ’s Goat Cheese, Sprinkle of Pecans, Rosemary, Basil Leaf, topped with Edamame with a dressing made from Balsamic Vinegar, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder and Whole Grain Dijon Mustard

Dessert:

I Pink Lady Apple (my absolute favorite) cut into dippers with a side of Pumpkin Butter mixed with Peanut Butter

Most days I have another mid morning snack of an apple, fig bar, lara bar, almonds, sugar snap peas, freeze dried mango or something involving nut butter.

Bonus:

I found Almond Butter at Trader Joe’s which they haven’t had in AGES so obviously had to buy it! It’s about 1/2 the price of almond butter anywhere else and it’s da bomb dot com.

OMG TJ's Almond Butter

OMG TJ’s Almond Butter

What’s your favorite nut butter? What toppings do you add to your yogurt (or oatmeal or pancakes or whatever needs breakfast toppings)? Do you have a favorite meal of the day?

Your breakfast looks amazing! I’m pretty sure you just inspired me to recreate that for dinner – yum!

Happy 1st WIAW, Georgie! All of your meals look delicious. I love Once Again nut butters. It’s a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

I’ve tried once again and they’re excellent. I’ve always wanted to try cashew butter- maybe that’s my next purchase. Thanks for reading

Love the idea of adding fig to your yogurt! Must get on that. So addicted to TJs almond butter. I pick it up whenever I am in the U.S. (they don’t have TJs in Canada) or at least used to until it went MIA grrrr. Glad you found some 🙂

It was my first time adding fig and I was inspired when I went to Chobani Soho here in the city. I feel your pain, at home we have one grocery store and it’s no Trader Joe’s.

Have a great day and thanks for reading!

Wow coconut/peanut spread? It’s on my list right now! I’ve had such a coconut kick lately. It all started with Trader Joe’s baked coconut.
I love dinner because I usually have the most time to prepare my food which means I can appreciate it more. Thanks for reading Caitlin.

Your breakfast looks like a dessert! YUM!
My favorite meal is probably dinner since that is when we sit down as a family and eat together.
    Welcome to WIAW! 🙂

Family meals are wonderful. I’m away from home for the summer so 9 times out of 10 I’m eating by myself which is kind of a bummer.
      Thanks for reading!

I am SO glad you decided to start doing this! I remember my mom and me telling you about it and I teased saying “All I ate today was 3 Chobanis and a spinach salad.” Btw, I started putting PB in plain Cho after you and it is AMAZE! Keep up the clean eating. You’re an inspiration!
    Love ya, cuz.

Thanks so much! Plus without you I probably wouldn’t have found WIAW and started my own blog. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit you in Kentucky sooner than later.
