My favorite season has always been summer. It’s warm, school’s out, all my favorite fruits are in season and my birthday’s in July! (What’s not to love?)
At first I was a little heart broken that this glorious time of year was less magical than it had been in my childhood, BUT instead I discovered a new love obsession with FALL.
I should really have a top 300 reasons I can’t wait for fall, but I’ll keep it to 5 (because it’s Friday).
Fall Runs
Running through trails of crisp changing leaves, the September breeze at your back. Not having to stress about “the perfect time” to run because it would be too hot. In the fall I feel like I could run forever.
New Beginnings
Spring might be the first season when you think of new growth, but for me, fall holds so many opportunities for new beginnings. Heading back to school with backpack full of fresh notebooks and pens, a year wiser, a new pair of kicks, a positive outlook and a clean slate.
Pumpkin (and other seasonal delicacies)
Last fall, doing all of my own shopping and cooking for the first time truly opened my eyes to the glory of fall flavors. First off, Pumpkin. I just can’t eat enough pumpkin. I put it in everything – savory and sweet. Also on the highlight reel: squash, apples and anything with a seasonal spice.
Apple Picking (seasonal favorite)
Sweater Weather
Imagine yourself in leggings, a soft scarf, your favorite boots and a scrumptious sweater. My wardrobe has molded itself around fall weather, lots of layers and cozy (mostly cute) pieces.
Changing Leaves
Growing up in New England, then going to school in Upstate NY has spoiled me in the fall department. Changing leaves are so magically beautiful! Warm golden-orange against a bright blue sky? Perfection. Oh yeah, and playing in piles of said golden leaves? Never to old for that!
Questions:
- What’s your favorite season?
- Has it always been that way or did you have a change of heart?
I can totally relate to falling back into depression in the summers! But fall always brings a welcome burst of happiness for me too. I love it for all the reasons you listed here – especially for the pumpkin and apples! 😉 Also I love that it’s also the season of Thanksgiving, fall fairs, and cozying up with hot drinks.
MMm hot drinks! As much as I love my iced coffee I’m looking forward to that first chilly day warm latte experience- and fall fairs are so wonderful!

Love pumpkin (especially the pumpkin spiced beer) and we always do some apple picking. However, you don’t want to picture me n leggings, a soft scarf, your favorite boots and a scrumptious sweater. Just sayin’.
Oo can’t wait to try pumpkin spiced beer that sounds so delish.
I’m pretty sure you about covered EVERYTHING I love about fall. I always choose fall marathons because I LOVE running in October (ish) time frame- for the temperature, for the view, etc. It’s just beautiful. Plus Apples and Pumpkin? Yes please. Now I’m wishing away summer a little bit 😉
A fall marathon sounds like it would be epic. It’s such a treat after the grueling heat.
girl I am so with you! This weather has been fall dreaming. I love all things pumpkin, can’t wait for it to come! Glad to find you on the link up! 🙂
I’m so glad I fell in love with pumpkin (and that the rest of the world loves it too). I kind of like the fact it’s only seasonal because it makes it extra special.
Love this post! I have been an autumn Geek since I was a kid
I host …Throw-numerious Fall fire pit parties in my yard and killer non-kid tree house. I start getting geeked at mid August. I suggest 2 things
1. Throwing an annual harvest moon party-my 14th
2. several autumn parties for no reason
I bag leaves from the woods and add them in my yard and I make tons of
Jack-o-lanterns and place them candle lit around my yard.
My spirit is on overdrive during this time and I don’t waste a single weekend. Oh yea i cook tons of man food and for my wife & friends pumpkin martinis. Pumpkin beer and Sam Adams for the boys.
Enjoy and make it a annual event…you’ll become a true legend
This sounds like an epic party- I’m definitely inspired. At home my family does a pumpkin carving potluck which is a blast, but I’ve never had a pumpkin martini and now I feel like I’m missing out!
