Late Night Light Bites – 21st Birthday Weekend

July 30, 2013 by Georgie @ The Long Run

5k Dance Party

My mom came down to the city this weekend to help me celebrate my 21st. After feeling homesick, and overwhelmed in such a new city it was wonderful to see a very familiar face.

Birthday Weekend

That Saturday I ran in Living Social’s 5k Dance Party at Citi Field, which was a blast! (Stay tuned for pictures and a recap later this week.)

This Weekend I Ate (& Drank)

On Saturday we grabbed delicious, clean, healthy vegan grub from s’Nice in the West Village. I had a salad with avocado, edamame, carrots, peanuts and ginger dressing.

I didn’t have your typical 21st rager, but my mom and I grabbed some late night froyo then drank delicious cocktails on the roof top bar of our hotel in Midtown. My first legal drink was an orange and cinnamon creation with gin. Let’s just say it wasn’t hard to drink. (But I kept it at one)

For my birthday we grabbed dinner (and Martinis) in the East Village at Cafe Orlins. I had a ginger martini (I’m obsessed with ginger) and my mom had pineapple cranberry.

I treated myself to a Big Gay Ice Cream, because what’s a birthday without some form of celebratory dessert? I had the “Mermaid” which had lime curd and graham cracker crumbles, like a soft-serve key-lime pie.

Thanks! It was delish- plus the shop was adorable and kitch-y. If you’re ever in NYC it’s a must-stop

The article about runners’ foes was PERFECT — just got over a bad calf muscle sprain because of running too much, too quickly. Thanks!

No problem Alyssa, thanks for reading! I totally agree it’s so easy to over do-it too quickly. Another one I struggle with is finding the right balance of pre/post workout fueling without over/under doing it.

Oh my god, I’ve had The Mermaid before…… pretty much heaven in a cup.

Last weekend was my B-Day weekend too (actually day: Friday). I got two cakes (thankfully didn’t finish either) red velvet and blueberry. Gotta say it looks like your mom may have out-ordered you. Her wrap looks great.

Happy birthday! Do you still make the cut-off for being a leo? Either way July totally rocks. I’ve never had a blueberry cake but it sounds amazing.
