I’m a curious kid. I’ve never been shy about asking “why?” Especially of myself.
“Why am I doing this?”
Now, I’m not saying that I always have the answers, but that’s the fun part: figuring it out.
Asking “why?” is crucial because we’re all so different. My “because’s” are going to be dramatically different from everyone else’s even if we’re following similar paths or even chasing similar goals. The key is in the “why.” These are the answers to what really drive you, they’re the things that make you proud and they’re the things that make you, well, YOU. (cool right? or just cheesy?)
Also, without asking “why” every once and a while, you start to pick up habits and beliefs that maybe you don’t even realize you’ve picked up. Maybe they’re good. Maybe they’re not. Maybe they don’t need reasons, but sometimes they can be destructive habits without reasons, or with reasons that aren’t your own, so it’s important to question them (just once in a while).
These are the answers to some of my “why’s,” because people ask, well mostly it’s just me asking myself, but some people might be wondering, too.
(these are just my reasons, maybe they’re yours too, but they certainly don’t have to be)
Why do you run?
- It’s really hard for me, but I know I can, so I challenge myself
- It teaches me to respect and listen to my body
- It inspires me, makes me truly happy mentally and physically
- It simultaneously teaches me pride and humility
- I feel like a badass
Why are you a vegetarian?
- I don’t like the taste of meat
- I’m not a fan of the practices of the meat industry
- I am happy and healthy without it
Why are you interested in the food industry?
- It affects everyone’s daily lives (behind a pretty big mask)
- It holds such enormous power over something we all need (food)
- When I learn about it I get that fire in my belly that tells me that something is important
Why do you like food and cooking?
- There’s so much community, history and culture because everybody eats (but not the same stuff)
- Making stuff in general is such a satisfying feeling, making stuff you can eat after is both satisfying and delicious
- You can be creative and experiment
- It directly effects how you feel for better or worse
Why do you want to live in a city?
- I love people and exploring and hustle and bustle and not driving and good food and the diversity and endless opportunities
Why do you blog?
- Because, when I started running and cooking I turned to blogs written by real people for advice, ideas, inspiration and good stories. I wanted to join that party and love being a part of this community.
- Also I love writing and taking pictures and the internet so…
Why nut butter?
Your Turn! Remember how I said I was curious? I wasn’t lying.
I want to know some of your why’s!
Question Time:
- If you’re a blog reader, why?
- If you’re a blogger, why?
- Why do you do/love what you read/blog about?
I don’t know why I read blogs….(good question)
But self reflection is definitely something that helps a person move forward. Keep on truckin’ Georgie! May reprint some of your thoughts to share
