Here I am 5 weeks away from my first ever 1/2 marathon. I’m giddy and nervous just thinking about it! But I’m also pretty confident too, because I’ve been sticking to my schedule and often adding more when I have the time and energy.
How’s this for a goofy, sweaty post-treadmill intervals selfie?
My favorite days are my long runs on Sundays where I keep the pace steady and just enjoy the ride. They’re not always easy, but they’re definitely the most rewarding workout.
Fall in Ithaca has been breathtakingly beautiful. Almost every day I look out over the hill on to Cayuga lake and wonder how I got so lucky? (mind you in 2 months I’ll probably be cursing the snow and freezing cold, but I’ll pretend ok?!) But I really refuse to believe that it’s October?! I know they say senior year goes by fast but seriously I feel like I just blinked and a month flew by.

Aside from some great runs, (and of course a few mediocre ones too) something else awesome has been happening… real recovery. Accepting that perfection isn’t my goal any more. Listening to my body instead of arbitrary rules I’d internalized for so long. I’m looking forward to elaborating in the coming weeks.
But I am guilty of a huge no-no in training and general fitness, I suck at stretching. And as I write this my knee is shaking it’s head, (wait a second knees can’t shake their heads… oh well) ANYWAY I need to start stretching more after every workout, especially endurance and speed runs.
In addition to keeping up with training, my biggest goal for October is to incorporate stretching post-workout as well as more hills and inclines in my runs.

reading your blog is so uplifting, especially this post! Highlight of September…hmmm, driving my first client on the wheelchair bike last weekend and the annual pick-your-own tomatoes twice and the consequential food prep that goes with it, were September highlights (and a special surprise care pkg I received, too)
