Veganism: Week 1

November 15, 2013 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Normally each week I have at least one post about weekly eats but this week I wanted to take a brief brake from that. Basically it’s most of the same thing as I’m trying to finish the food in my fridge before break. Sometimes taking pictures of every little thing you eat can be really interesting and help you find patterns or share what you love. Other times it feels like a waste of time to show anyone that I just snack most of the day (on very similar things) rather than eat big meals.

I was kind of hoping that after a week without dairy and eggs and any other animal product, I’d feel totally amazing, but that’s not really the case. I feel exactly the same. I guess that’s ok too because I do enjoy some dairy once in a while and I’m super lucky that I don’t actually have any allergies or intolerances.

Things I Miss:

  • Greek Yogurt
  • Frozen Yogurt
  • Breakfast Sandwiches

Things I can live without:

  • Cheese (90% of the time)

I did cheat:

There’s no point in lying and saying that I was 100% perfect this week. I had a slice of my roommate’s mom’s pumpkin bread that she sent, because well, it’s freakin’ awesome. I also had a granola bar that had honey in it, but I decided that honey is not something I’m particularly trying to give up. I’m definitely more concerned about the dairy and egg products. But other than that, I’m honestly surprised I haven’t cheated more.
