The Weirdest, Most Dysfunctional Run Ever (in numbers)

February 9, 2014 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Sundays are my long run days. I love long runs (hence the name of my blog). They’re peaceful, challenging, rewarding and a great time to think about whatever the heck I want!

Unfortunately running outside has been a challenge due to the freezing cold and mass amounts of snow being dumped on Ithaca constantly. But I thought “You can do it Georgie- go to a nice park and enjoy yourself!” So I pumped myself up, layered up and drove to Stewart park and that’s where the failure began.

Long Run

So I thought I’d do a fun little recap of my run in numbers:

  • 6: number of miles I ran
  • 2: number of places I had to relocate to (ran 2 miles around the park, got frustrated and drove to town where I did the last 4)
  • 5: number of times I cursed the winter, the snow and the miserable weather
  • 2: number of times I fell (like totally ate it)
  • 11: number of times I wanted to quit
  • 70: percentage of my run that I had to pee
  • 3: number of times I had to stop to pee
  • 4: number of times I laughed at myself

Long Run

But I did it. Somehow I finished six miles despite how awful and cold and difficult it was.

I refueled with this delicious treat:

Long Run

Chocolate Cake Batter Protein Shake

  • 1/2 Cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tbsp of powdered pb
  • 1 tsp of carob powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)
  • 1 dash of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of vanilla

Place all ingredients into blender (or bullet or food processor) and blend until smooth

Major props for doing the whole six miles! I can’t help but think that when I had to get in my car to move to another location I’d probably just go home. That is- if I ever motivated myself to run in the cold in the first place!!
