Wake up all your senses with this sweet and spicy smoothie that has a serving of veggies to boot!
I might have mentioned that I have a thing for ginger… ok I talk about it a lot. But if I convert just one reader into a ginger lover then I feel like I’ve done my service for blog-kind. Any whoosles this smoothie is the bees knees, and that’s coming from a smoothie connoisseur.
My criteria for breakfast smoothies are that they have to a.) be delicious b.) no added sugar c.) little to no sugar from liquid ingredients d.) have either veggies, healthy fat or some kind of protein because ain’t nobody got time for being hangry at 10am.
Luckily for both of us this smoothie checks a lot of those boxes all while keeping in relatively simple. I love the combination of sweet juicy mango with spicy ginger. It’s smooth with a little kick at the end. It’s nice and thick because of the base banana, but if you’re not a banana fan feel free to add ice, avocado, or give frozen zucchini a try. Warning, you might lose this beautiful vibrant orange color that comes from the carrots and mango.
I might re-name this the sunshine smoothie, because it’s so bright and cheerful! It also helps wake you up because if you’ve ever put ginger in a smoothie you know it’s quite a delicious kick. If you’re feeling like a real super hero try adding a little pinch of powdered turmeric, an excellent anti-inflammatory (like ginger). Foods that are high in fat and sugar can cause inflammation which results in joint pain, fatigue, and damage to the blood vessels. {More about inflammation and anti-inflammatories here}
So yeah, basically you’ll be an ass kickin’ ninja after a glass full of this sunny smoothie!
- 1 Cup of Frozen Mango
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 2/3 Cup of Shredded Carrots
- 1 tsp of powdered ginger (or 1 Tbsp of fresh ginger)
- 1/2 Cup of Coconut Water (adjust based on personal preference)
- Place all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.
Happy sippin!
Your Turn:
- Are you a jump outa bed kinda person or a hit the snooze a couple times [80% I’m a hit the snooze, maybe this smoothie will be my motivation]

That looks like a perfect breakfast. Healthy and yummy!
Thanks Dasha! As a ginger lover it’s the perfect sweet spicy kick I need to get me going.
What would you add as a protein into this smoothie? To make it a really filling breakfast 🙂
If you’re vegan you could add your favorite plant based protein powder or if not you could add greek yogurt or even egg whites
