3-Ingredient Cranberry Sauce

November 25, 2014 by Georgie @ The Long Run

With only 3 ingredients (plus water), this cranberry sauce couldn’t be easier. Perfect for when you have about 1000 other dishes to make! Flipping delicious? Yeah it’s that too.

Cranberry Sauce

For this last installment of Long Run Thanksgiving we’ll be whipping up a stupid simple orange cranberry sauce.

Vegetarian Thanksgiving

I couldn’t do a series of Thanksgiving dishes without a cranberry sauce. Cranberry sauce is easily one of my favorite aspects of the Thanksgiving dinner. I always request that a huge batch is made because cranberry sauce is leftover perfection.

Cranberry Sauce

Besides being delicious on veggies, spuds, grains (and I’m sure turkey if that’s yo thang) I love using cranberry sauce like a jam. I’ll even have a dollop with my yogurt in the morning #allThanksgivingErraything.

Cranberry Sauce

This recipe consists of fresh squeezed orange juice, maple syrup and cranberries boiled in water. That’s it.

Cranberry Sauce

First, squeeze oj and add to water and maple syrup. Pour mixture into a saucepan and add 12 oz of cranberries. Boil mixture until it turns into your desired sauce consistency. Mine took around 2o minutes.

Then, enjoy on all the foods.

Prep time: 10 mins

This 3 ingredient cranberry sauce helps you savor the beautifully tart flavors of the season staple. This icon sauce has all the flavor without all the excess sugar of typical cranberry sauces.
Ingredients
  • 12 oz of fresh cranberries
  • Fresh squeezed juice from 2 oranges (approximately 2/3 cup)
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup of Water
  • Optional: 1 tsp of cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Squeeze the juice from both oranges so it measures approximately 2/3 of a cup
  2. Combine water and maple syrup – stir until well combined
  3. Pour mixture into a saucepan on high until boiling
  4. Add cranberries and reduce to medium heat
  5. Cranberries will pop, so keep the lid on the sauce pan
  6. Add cinnamon if desired – stir into sauce
  7. Cook on medium/low until sauce thickens to desired consistency (15-20 minutes)
  8. Store in fridge

I made the cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit! My grandpa was eating it straight out of the bowl haha. I will definitely be making it again next year 🙂
