WIAW: More Foodie Less Talkie

June 10, 2015 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Today I’m linking up with Jenn from Peas & Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday

Want to keep it super simple today? Perfect.

Unlike most of my posts that are written and tweaked for a couple days (sometimes weeks) ahead of time, WIAW posts are always written on Tuesday nights. 90% of the time I have plenty to say. I love starting food-related convos and hearing everyone weigh in. However, in the spirit of bein’ real witchu, my brain is fried tonight and honestly who doesn’t enjoy a picture heavy post, especially after last week’s epic novel of a WIAW.

Breakfast

Smoothie Bowl…Surprise! Ok, my real question is, how have I not gotten sick of smoothies yet? HOW?! Ahh well, I’ll keep on keepin’ on until my tastebuds tell me to stop which it looks like will literally never happen.

WIAW In it 4 the Long Run

Lunch

Sweet Potato Tuna Burger with homemade pesto and goat’s cheese over a bed of arugula, farro, sprouts, goat’s cheese and pecans.

WIAW In it 4 the Long Run

Pick-Me-Up(s)

Watermelon Lemonade (recipe coming soon!)

WIAW In it 4 the Long Run

Iced Almond Milk Latte because Tuesdays are hard.

WIAW In it 4 the Long Run

Dinner

Celery Root Noodles with Sweet Basil Gremolata from Hungry Root. Hungry Root sent me 2 of their fresh veggie noodle dinners to make and I was so impressed. It took less than 7 minutes to make and the sauce was so fresh and delicious.

WHY do your pictures look so freakin’ amazing?! I’m jealous! I have actually not had a smoothie bowl yet, believe it or not. Is it basically just a smoothie and then you put it in a bowl and eat with a spoon?? It looks delicious, and also too pretty to eat!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:21 pm

Yup! Simple as that. I like to make mine with a lot less liquid so it’s basically like banana ice cream and you add fruit, greens and protein powder – so easy but I find them more satisfying because you eat it with a spoon rather than drink like a smoothie

I have never tried veggie noodles, but those look DELISH! I can definitely get sick of foods, because typical me I have a tendency to over do it. LOL! I will never get sick of nut butters, but I can get sick of Brussels Sprouts and I’m taking a break from my protein smoothie, cause my tummy has been a little upset. Need REAL foods. XOXO

      June 12, 2015 at 10:23 pm

Yeah I feel ya – I try to remind myself to mix it up when it comes to veggie staples and sources of protein. If I can swing it I like to get my protein from eggs, fish, seeds, nuts etc.

Im right there with you, I will never ever get sick of smoothies. They’re just the best. And I love veggie noodles! Lately I’ve been digging them salad style – raw tossed with yummy dressings. Perfect summer meal!

Totally had some raw zoodles in my lunch today! πŸ˜€ I’ve been super into those lately as well πŸ˜‰

        June 12, 2015 at 10:17 pm

YUM! I seriously hit the zoodle switch and it ain’t goin back now

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:20 pm

I need to try your zoodle salad! I’ve never done them raw (even though I snack on them while I’m cooking lol)

I’m on a smoothie bowl kick too. They’re so refreshing right now! Definitely checking out those noodles. They look perfect!

The smoothie bowl train is one I’m riding all summer!

Mmm that lemonade though πŸ™‚ Excited for your recipe!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:19 pm

It’s almost too easy to be a real recipe but I’ve had it almost every day this week πŸ˜€

  7. Emma @ Em-powered Wellness says

    June 10, 2015 at 12:39 pm

That smoothie bowl!! Yum. I’ve never tried their veggie noodles but celery root noodles? Crazy!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:19 pm

I never would have thought to make them on my own – their kit was super easy, but the sauce was the real star

I never get sick of smoothies or oatmeal, clearly. Oh and pb toast with banana. So basically breakfast.
And I’ve never had celery root noodles before, but they sound interesting. I’ll have to look out for them!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:17 pm

Hahaha I can 100% relate. Breakfast is my absolute favorite and I’d eat it for every meal if I could.

  10. Kaitlin says

    June 10, 2015 at 4:36 pm

Seriously can I come over for all of those meals? I tend to eat the same thing or just forage through what’s left in my apartment. I hate spending money on NYC groceries.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:16 pm

NYC can be so expensive! I definitely eat similar meals a lot, as long as there’s a little green action I don’t feel too bad about it.

    June 10, 2015 at 10:15 pm

that lunch!! guess I never tire of soft fruits and stone fruits, especially as peach season is upon us :p

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:14 pm

Oh yes! You are the peach queen. Can’t wait for some fruit pies <3

That lemonade looks amazing. I would love to try that celery root pasta.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:13 pm

It was so refreshing! The celery root pasta was surprisingly delicious – I think if a veggie is in a noodle shape it makes it 10x better

I have been in love with nut butter since the dawn of time and I do not foresee a change.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:14 pm

AMEN! Some days I’m like “it would be nice if I wasn’t so obsessed with nut butter” but then I laugh and eat a spoonful of Trader Joe’s chunky almond butter and laugh at my foolish thoughts

  14. Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says

    June 11, 2015 at 10:05 am

Celery root noodles?! That sounds so interesting! Looks like it was yummy!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:05 pm

They were good, but the sauce was the best part!

  15. Brittany says

    June 11, 2015 at 11:13 am

New reader! That smoothie bowl looks amazing! I imagine you don’t tire of it because of the endless possibilities.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 10:05 pm

Thanks Brittany! Welcome – you’re totally right, smoothie bowls are so customizable that it’s pretty easy to mix it up when I need to

Thank you Emily! I love hearing that <3 Zoodles are one of my favorite meals lately!

  17. Jamie says

I think I could eat eggs every single day. And green apples. Weird combination but I never get tired of them! I really want to try zucchini noodles, but due to a badly cut finger with my first attempt I have never tried to make them again.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      June 12, 2015 at 9:57 pm

Oh no! A bad cut will scar you (ok, I apologize for that awful pun) – Eggs are fantastic because there’s about a zillion different ways to make ’em
