Friday Feature: Meet Hillary

June 26, 2015 by Georgie @ The Long Run

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that community is the most valuable asset you have as a blogger, at least it has been for me. I’m so lucky to have met so many amazing readers and fellow bloggers though this little plot of web I have. One of these wonderful blogging friends or “blends” I’ve met through blogging is Hillary. As a part of Hillary’s fun series “Friday Features” we’ve swapped interviews. I’m a big fan of Hillary’s approach to healthy living and as you’ll find out in Hillary’s interview we have a lot in common.

Meet Hillary!

Hi! I’m Hillary, the 20-something behind the blog Nutrition Nut on the Run. I am a corporate wellness professional by day and a Certified Health Coach/Blogger by night. A fitness enthusiast/seasoned runner and farmer’s market regular, I revel in learning how to optimally nourishing myself and help others do the same.

What’s your nutrition/health philosophy?

In short: Whole foods. Plant-based. Ingredients you can pronounce. Local whenever possible. Organic is preferred.

You can find a more detailed version of my food philosophy/story here.

Nutrition is a piece of my health philosophy. As a Holistic Health Coach, I wholeheartedly believe that other aspects of your life (career, relationships, physical activity) are vital components to overall wellbeing. I think self-love must be at the top of our list before we are able to best serve and take care of others. (can I get a hell yes?)

What are your 3 desert island foods?

  • Almond Butter
  • Avocados
  • Tortilla Chips – to accompany the avo 😉 (clearly I’d want to get stuck on the same island)

If you were to start a new blog with a whole different topic outside food and fitness what would it be?

Surprisingly (and with a bit of embarrassment), this is a tough question. I honestly do not have many hobbies that fall outside the realm of food and fitness. On second thought, I could write a blog about organization. Every since I was a kid, everything had to be in its place; everything matched to a tee; I was happy to clean/decorate our entire house. If you every want someone to help clean out your closet, I am your girl. (please come to my apartment asap)

Are you an AM or PM exerciser?

In it 4 the Long Run: Friday Feature

Both. Currently, the majority of my exercise takes place in the evening as I work an 8-5 job and getting up the crack of dawn to hit the gym before work doesn’t happen regularly. I love to exercise in the mornings, however, and do so on the weekends.

New yoga pants or new running sneakers?

New running pants 😉 While I think it’s important to replace running shoes every 500ish miles, there’s nothing more motivating to me than a stylish new workout outfit. My love for Lulu remains strong.

Bonus: What TV character do you wish you could be BFFs with in real life?

I’m not a huge TV/movie watcher (aside from The Bachelor(ette) – my guilty pleasure)… how about blogger Lee from Fit Foodie Finds 😉

You ask the best questions! My 3 desert island foods are similar…sub watermelon for the tortilla chips. I agree that I would want new running pants over sneakers. I wear workout clothes when I’m not working out so I think I’d get more use out of them 🙂

Same – in fact I’m due for some new summer workout gear – it’s crazy how fast some stuff can wear out

I love this series! It’s so much fun to discover new like-minded bloggers. And avocado and almond butter would definitely be two foods I’d have to have with me! I actually already ate both today, ha!
