What I Ate Wednesday: Hot Damn

July 22, 2015 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Today I’m linking up with Jenn from Peas & Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday

Warning: I’m feeling a little scattered today so bare with me. This could either be annoying or entertaining (or both?…nah, probably just annoying).

Ugh. It’s so hot right now. Like so hot I can’t even concentrate enough to write anything interesting. I guess I have a low tolerance for extreme temperatures. If I could just chill somewhere that was 65-75 degrees forever that’d be cool… oh I guess that’s why they made LA… damn.

Anyway I’ll stop complaining for a hot second to share some grub! Going off of last week’s post, I’m feeling a bit better than I had been earlier this summer. I mean, I’m always a moment away from one of those “OMG WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE” micro-crisis, but for the most part it’s even keel.

And despite it being too hot to think about wanting to move, I still managed to make (and eat) some good, easy, healthy food.

Breakfast

Overnight Oats: with raspberries and homemade granola

Sorry for the most random WIAW I think I’ve ever done. Hope you’re having a rad week. ALSO – I’ll be in NYC this weekend. If you’re in the hood tweet me up and we can grab a coffee (iced obvi)

Your Turn:

  • Well, since this post was super random – tell me a fun fact about you! (and/or how you deal with the heat – I’m currently posted up next to my fan and I stayed late at work 90% because I wanted to prolong my AC exposure)

Those cashews!! They look so good. I also don’t do well with heat unless I’m near a pool/lake/the ocean. …which I am not. so lame.

Haha, if you really want to know a random fact…. I am on a hot tea kick when it is 90 degrees outside… Yesterday I got back from a run and I was a hot sweaty mess and what did I go for? A cup of boiling water, and a tea bag? Weird ay?

Up in the Great White North where I live, for 6 months I’m complaining I’m too cold and for 6 months I’m complaining I’m too hot. Canadian weather is SO FUN. When the sun is blazing I stay confined to my air conditioned basement though. And obvs lots of iced coffee.

Hahah I FEEL YOU on the heat!!! Todays heat index is over 100. WTF? Totally took my running to the treadmill #sorrynotsorry… Random or not, everything looks delicious!! Everybody has days like this. If I shared a WIAW it would be all over the place haha. One fact about me: I lived in Memphis for 5 years and have never been to Bourbon St or Graceland. Most random fact I could come up with. Happy Wednesday 🙂

I’m in the minority because I love the heat. But I guess not the humidity (who likes that?). 70-80 degrees year round is my dream. Most random fact I can think of: when I was in 3rd grade I was in a spelling bee and got out on the word “tissue.” I spelled it with one s instead of two. Now it haunts me.

The heat and humidity in New England has been AWFUL lately. And trust me, I think all of us in our early to mid 20s are constantly on the verge of one of those crises…I know I am 😉

Oh man!! This heat tho! I totally hear ya! The heat can be so very draining!! …but I like to wear cool clothes, drink lots of water and sleep with windows wide and fans blaring! LOL, thankfully I’m in the mountains for the summer, and while we do have some hot days, they tend to balance out with cool evenings! 🙂

We have AC in my current house but I’m moving in two weeks to a place without it, and I suspect I’ll be sounding like you soon. I’m already planning to spend most of my time in Starbucks/Chapters/the gym, just to get as much AC as possible lol

    Those cashews!
We have one window AC (from like the late 1980s….no joke) to cool down the entire downstairs. …..It really doesn’t work except when you are in the one room that the unit actual is! Then it’s freezing!

I suggest you never come down to Houston in the summer…It is flipping sticky and hot here and it’s only supposed to get worse this weekend. Over it…But your breakfast and dinner look DELISH! When it is this hot out I am all about easy, cooler, and still healthy, cause heavy hot and greasy meals just really won’t help the situation. LOL! Happy Hump Day!

Lots of smoothies and a cool fan. Also wearing tanks and shorts haha.

Girl its still hot in LA. The past few days have been so damn hot and humid with this tropical storm we had. But in truth, it’s normally like 65 so people freak when it’s warmer than 80.

Those oats look delicious! And I’m addicted to Justin’s PB cups. Thanks for sharing!

With the heat, I generally just live off of smoothies. Eh, who am I kidding – I do that all year round 😉

Also…those cashews. Yum! I need those in my life.

Oh man, I am so with you- if I could live somewhere where it was 65-75 year round, my life would be complete!

Ooh, have fun in NYC! I wish I was still there so we could grab iced coffee- I left just a month or two too early 🙂
