What I Ate Wednesday: Different Day… Similar Food

August 19, 2015 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Oh Wednesday. That day I like to show you what I ate. It’s a fun little reminder that I’m so damn predictable. Or, maybe that I don’t like to fix things that aren’t broken? Yeah, we’ll go with that one.

Ok, here’s the scoop why I like to eat a lot of the same food…because it tastes good, it makes me feel good and I don’t have a ton of time to spend reinventing the wheel on a weekday. Typically, I love spending weekends making fun crazy concoctions (that turn into leftovers) so maybe next week I’ll show you some of what I eat not on a Tuesday.

I personally don’t get too bored of most of my favorite combos and maybe that’s because I do really mix it up on the weekends. I have so much respect for those who whip up gourmet meals on week nights. My typical routine, when I’m not doing anything special on a weeknight, is to come home, throw food at my face and work on the blog for a couple hours then pass out. I might be making it sound more mundane than it is, because I love working on ‘ol bloggy here.

Your Turn

But anywhoo, what about you? As the nosey chica I am I love to know how YOU eat!

  • Do you like to switch it up more often or could you do your favorite meals on repeat?
  • Do you prep a lot of meals or ingredients on the weekends or do you do something new every night?

I’m the same way…I LOVE what I eat and it makes me feel good so I don’t mess with it too much. Whenever I meal prep I usually make the same meal for 2 or 3 dinners. I’m just not “talented” enough to prep multiple things at once!

I definitely like to eat the same stuff because I enjoy it and you’re right – if it ain’t broke… Typically that means lots of eggs and omelettes, big salads, grilled chicken or fish with veggies, yogurt parfaits, fruit, ice cream, and homemade oatmeal bakes or pancakes, good stuff!

I love farro and kind of forgot about it until riiiiight now. So thank you. Oh and my weeknight meals aren’t very fancy either–I save the fancy stuff for recipe dev ORRRR if I happen to have a lot of free time/put of things I actually should be doing, then I’ll whip up something fancy shmancy (like, zoodles–FANCY).

Yes it’s so funny, recipe development is the fanciest I get then I keep it low key for the rest of the week

Most of the time I like to eat the same thing day in and day out, but I do get times, where I just NEED something different. During the week is a lot of the same foods, while weekends are meant for something different and trying out new foods.

I’m all about eating the same favorites all the time! The only reason I have something new (mostly dinner) is because it was something for the blog! So being a food blogger, things have to be different, but some days I just crave total comfort favorites!

I’ve been seeing a lot of Siggi’s lately! I’ve only tried it once but I loved it! Also, that avocado toast sounds awesome 🙂

Drooling at all of your meals, because these are definitely my favorites…especially that avocado and toast! #getinmybelly This is kind of random, but I love when all my nut butter jars kind of get empty at the same time. I will do a overnight oats, smoothie, and even a coconut flour waffle. Great eats friend! XOXO

Cannot wait for that salad recipe…I’ve been looking for a way to incorporate farro into my meals in a new fun and different way!

Yep. I’m the same way. Every single day I have a snack before lunch and it’s always either an apple or a banana with peanut butter. Every. Single. Day. *shrug*

I’m such a creature of habit…my colleagues at work can predict my orders sometimes. I tend to go in phases, however. Like sometimes I want all the eggs for breakfast and sometimes I go through week periods of just oatmeal. Currently in the eggs phase….don’t see it ending anytime soon!

I’m seriously always eating the same things – especially for breakfast! And breakfast for dinner is SO easy. Lately I’ve been doing the same too. Coming home, smashing food and bloggin’ like crazy 🙂 Can’t wait for my next empty-nut-butter-jar-oats! Looking gooood 🙂

Right? It makes an empty jar a little less sad, let’s be real, a lot happier!

A full day of yummy eats! I love simple meals during the weekdays, too.

I was curious about what you thought of the nut butter you ate out of for breakfast? (Best breakfast EVER!) I love, love, love cranberries and tahini but am not crazy about peanut butter. Do you think that the peanut butter flavor part is over powering… or should I try it out??

I’m not a huge PB fan, I much prefer almond butter but that flavor is really nice, it had great texture and I’d say in small doses is not over powering

Thank you, Georgie!! I think I’m going to go for it just to try something new 🙂 Thanks for the honest review.
