Thank you ZonePerfect for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try Perfectly Simple nutrition bars. I’ve been nomming on these babies all during this blog-cation and loving them. ZonePerfect is celebrating #FeelGooder moments and oh, boy have I been having a bunch these week!
You know that feeling of “Ugh I really want to work on that project but I just don’t have the time…” or “I can’t wait to dig into this thing I’m working on…” but every time you start you feel like you’re interrupted by reality? This week has been the total antidote for that feeling because I’ve been taking a Blog-Cation, no not a vacation from my blog, a vacation for my blog. Before you think I’m crazy, hear me out.
I realized I had vacation days I hadn’t used and decided to take them off and focus on some of the blog projects I’ve been dying to work on. It’s made me realize that a blog-cation should 1000% be a thing because I’m obsessed.
3 Reasons to love Blog-cations
They Save you Money
This one’s pretty obvious, but if you’re not traveling too far you don’t have to spend nearly as much money or really any extra money. As a 20-something trying to save up dinero for my empire, I’ll take a cheap vacation wherever I can get one.
They help you Get Sh!% Done
GSD! Who doesn’t Love the feeling of destroying a to-do list. Finally, with little interruption, some healthy snackage (I’ve been loving Zone Perfect’s chocolate cashew bars) and plenty of cold brew you can destroy yours too.
they allow you to Really Relax
In between conquering your to-do list and kicking butt on all those projects, don’t forget to take time to really relax. Going for walks, catching up on my favorite podcasts, playing with my dog has been totally restorative. Plus, post blog-cation you’ll feel a huge sense of relief that you’ve started conquering some of your biggest projects.

4 Ways to Make Your Blog-cation Successful
Make a Plan
It’s so stupid easy to have grand plans of getting all this stuff done, but somehow letting a week go by and having nothing to show. Don’t let that happen to your blog-cation! Be realistic about what you think you can get done then be very specific about how and when you’ll do it. I broke each project out into parts so I could cross each part of individually and give myself the momentum I need to keep going.
Eat Well
Life gets crazy and sometimes that means letting your healthy eating slip. Well this is the perfect time to slow down and take the extra time to make your meals and pack ‘em with veggies. In between meals and as pre-workout snacks I’ve been noshing on ZonePerfect’s Perfectly Simple bars because they have 10g of protein so I’m actually satisfied after eating one. Oh and the chocolate chunks. Those are gold.
Leave Room in Your Plan
I know I personally have the tendency to want to pack every second of my day with projects and things to do but to really enjoy your time off give yourself a little extra wiggle room for spontaneity. Remember this is supposed to be relaxing!
Make Your Space Productive
Before you kick off your blog-cation, take some time to clean, reorganize and set your space up for optimal productivity and relaxation. For me, that sometimes means moving things around, but definitely keeping things clean – for some reason whenever I have clean working space I can just think more clearly, but however you work best, set your space up for that.

Your Turn
- Have you ever taken a stay-cation?
- Do you have any tips for making a long weekend/blog-cation/stay-cation productive?
I love this, Georgie!! I often feel like I have so many ideas running through my head and these grand plans but can’t ever get them done. I always tell myself I’ll do it over the weekend, and then I end up wanting to be active and enjoy my weekend away from the computer since I’m staring at it over 40 hrs/wk. Such a great idea I hope to take a blog-cation one day!! Love these photos!
I feel your pain! Especially when the weather is nice it’s so hard to spend those weekends blogging (aka me this summer). I’m kind of looking forward to a little hibernation this winter to get some shtuff done!
I am all about post-it notes, lists, writing everything down in pencil of course! It really helps me to make legible lists that I can see. I honestly don’t use the computer for my schedule, because I need that visual and that feeling of crossing things OFF. I hope this vacation is super relaxing and productive for you. XOXO
I feel you, when I write things down and physically cross them off I feel more satisfied. Thea act of writing also helps me think and concentrate on what I have to do.
I love this idea of a blog-cation! I’ve actually never thought of taking a vacation and just focusing on my blog but I know that it would be so helpful (… with the proper snacks of course). For me, I would be most productive on a blog-cation by changing up my location from time to time. Sitting at my desk the whole time would not work, but going to a coffee shop one morning and somewhere outside in the afternoon would help keep me productive and motivated!
Great ideas! I seriously wish I could take a blog-cation. I end up doing between 3-5 shoots on the weekend and it is fun, but exhausting! I then get so many more ideas while working on the weekends, that I get frustrated it pretty much has to wait another week before I can work on them! Maybe in the winter months when it is cold and I don’t want to leave my house, I’ll plan my blog-cation 😉
Great post, Georgie. Youdabest. <3
Yes! I feel your pain. Weekend morning hustle for sure when you’re trying to make the most of that light.
Annndd lol SORRY BRIE! I didn’t mean to post there. Not sure what happened. BUT HI! 😉 And I love your idea of going to a coffee shop. The cute little local ones have such good vibes! <3 Hope you're having a great first month back at MSU. 🙂
Totally! Whenever I work on something for a long time I have to move around and work in new spaces
fun photos!
Thanks Hillary!
This sounds like so much fun! I love 3-day weekends because I typically use that extra day to work on my blog and knock out some projects. I may be in need of a blog-cation soon too 🙂
Yes! 3 day weekends are awesome… I am even more productive during the work week if I’ve had extra rest
Okay I SO need this!! With school starting to get crazy, I’ve had zero time to do blog-related things 🙁 Glad you had a good productive day!!
When I was in college it was so tough to juggle, but if you keep at it you’ll find your rhythm 😀
