What I Ate Wednesday: Let’s Have Fun!

October 21, 2015 by Georgie @ The Long Run

Hi friends!

Ok, confession time. I’m kind of pooped. Like brain pooped. And I guess a little tired pooped too. But happy pooped! Ok, now I’m just messing with you to see how many times I can write “pooped” in a blog post. Ok, done.

What I Ate Wednesday

Anyway what I was really trying to say is that rather than get deep (like last week) I want to keep things fast and fun. AND I want to hear from you so we’re going to play a game called 3 questions (I just made that up but now it’s a thing because I put it on the internet). They’re super random but that’s where we’re at right now.

I can’t wait to read your answers!

What I Ate Wednesday

1.) City slicker or country kid?

Growing up on an Island I was desperate to escape and live in a big city. Now that I’ve lived in a couple I’m appreciating the beauty of being surrounded by nature. Sooo I really have no idea.

What I Ate Wednesday

Breakfast: Overnight Oats with granola

2.) If you could only listen to 1 musician for the rest of your life who would it be?

Ellie Goulding – omg she’s seriously a goddess. She’s British, a badass, a runner and her music is my jam. And her new album comes out in a couple weeks so I’m pumped.

What I Ate Wednesday

Lunch & Snacks: yogurt, nut butter, dried fruit & apple

3.) Favorite holiday dessert?

As you’ll learn in the coming weeks I’m kind of obsessed with gingerbread, prepare for gingerbread-pocalypse 2015….it’s coming

What I Ate Wednesday

Dinner: Avocado & ricotta toasts

P.S. to everyone who bought the Blogger’s Guide to Instagram Photography so far, I seriously can’t thank you enough. I absolutely loved creating it and I’m so lucky to have your amazing support. I can’t wait to see your kick ass Insta’s blowing up my feed.

Bloggers Guide to Instagram Photography

Your Turn:

1.) City or Country?

2.) The 1 musician you could listen to forever?

3.) Favorite Holiday Dessert?

I used to think I would want to live in NYC forever when I was a grown up, but now I AM one and I do miss nature and think the country will be for me eventually 🙂

It’s funny how if you’re in a city for a while and you go into nature you realize how much you miss it!

You’re Fage/granola is making my mouth water.. that would be a really good breakfast right about now.
    But this is so fun!

    1) I think I prefer the city, but not too big of a city and I need mountains close by.
    2) I go through phases of music, but I grew up on the Allman Brothers so if I’m not sick of them by now it’s probably a good sign. Or The Head and The Heart.
    3) Coconut cake! Coconut anything.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 8:11 am

Loving Head and the Heart right now! Coconut makes everything amazing.

    2. Uhm I’M OBSESSED with Ellie Goulding. I’ve listened to Goodness Gracious at least 27 times in the last 3 days. Also, Taylor Swift. Can’t stop won’t stop with 1989.

    I'll just pick a decade…70s music.
And…o…soft real gingerbread is amazing for sure! One this I miss so much is my grandmas soft gingerbread men should would always make (can't have them any more, haha), but that was like the best holiday dessert I've ever had…ever!

  7. Marina @ A Dancer's Live-It says

    1) I’m a city girl through and through. Although I was raised in the suburbs, I developed such a deep appreciation for cities when I first visited NYC when I was 10. Since then, I’ve been hooked. Each city I travel to has its own personality and vibe. That’s probably why I go to college in a city; the land of opportunities!

    2) Michael Jackson. Probably my biggest dance inspiration of all time, and such a musical genius too! He was taken from us WAY too soon.

    3) My favorite holiday dessert is probably any sort of pie. GIVE ME ALL THE PIES. With vanilla ice cream on top, of course. 🙂

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:58 am

Yes, there’s nothing like the opportunities of a city. Oh and pie is the best.

  8. Amanda F says

    October 21, 2015 at 12:12 pm

    1) Country. I grew up in a small town in Tennessee. I get reallllyyy sad when I don’t get my mountain fix. But, in all reality I want to be close enough to feel like I live in country but still have a decent amount of amenities. I’m kinda needy lol.

2)What a terrible life that would be! But, if forced Incubus maybe? A nice variation of music over the years.

    3) PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE <3 If we're talking Christmas,… does homemade hot chocolate with whipped cream count?

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:57 am

Mmmm pumpkin cheesecake! 😉 Oh homemade hot chocolate totally counts

  9. rachel @ Athletic Avocado says

    October 21, 2015 at 12:48 pm

i am such a country girl, i live next to a farm at home! My all time fav singer is Billy Joel, an oldie but goodie and monkey bread which we have for breakfast on Christmas morning which is typically not a dessert but still amazing!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:56 am

Mmm monkey bread! My family does a baked french toast which is basically dessert too 😉

  10. Leah M @ love me, feed me says

    October 21, 2015 at 1:26 pm

    1) City with some forest areas to explore nearby.
    2) Oh goddddd this is hard. Maybe City and Colour. I’ve been in love with Dallas Green since I was like 10.
    3) Ice cream. Ice cream is forever.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:56 am

      Haha yes. Always ice cream.

  11. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says

    October 21, 2015 at 3:50 pm

I was born and raised in Florida, so I love the beach and nature — but I would have to say CITY for now, because I’m a Bay Area girl. 🙂 And cheesecake for ANY holiday. Happy Wednesday, Georgie!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:56 am

It’s funny I totally go through phases so I get that. Bay Area seems so fun!

  12. Rachel says

    October 21, 2015 at 6:05 pm

    1) CITY all the way but with easy access to nature (that’s why i love NYC and having my parents close!)
    2) i don’t have one, it’s the most stressful questions for me to answer
    3) MANDEL BREAD aka my Mom’s chocolate chip cookies, they’re a jewish biscotti and I dip them in almond milk and she always has them in the freezer for me when I am home (I love frozen cookies in milk)

    xx

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:55 am

Ooo I have to try that! I’ve never heard of mandel bread. Also love your spot in NYC and love visiting <3

  13. Christina says

    October 21, 2015 at 6:11 pm

I have lived in the suburbs for 23 years. I absolutely love NYC and visiting big cities, and I love visiting rural areas (like where I am in Canada right now), but I don’t think I could live in NYC despite my love for it. I think it would just take some getting used to! John Mayer is my one musician, and my favorite holiday dessert issss um…. my moms bread pudding!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:54 am

My feeling is cities are fun when you have money and the country can be fun even if you don’t… so as a semi broke 20 something the city can be a little depressing. lol

  14. sarah says

    October 21, 2015 at 7:34 pm

I grew up in the suburbs, but I ride horses and love country music, so I’m going to go with country on the first question! Musician is so hard… hmmm I think I’ll go with Luke Bryan. I really don’t have a favorite holiday dessert, my favorite dessert is ice cream and frozen yogurt!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 25, 2015 at 7:53 am

Nice! Also, who doesn’t love some froyo!

  15. Molly says

This is a really cute post! I think now that I’m older and have children, I’d like us to live by the beach or in the mountains. I definitely need to be surrounded by nature and my kids really benefit from spending a lot of time outside.

I loooooove Ellie Goulding. Such a good pick. I’ve never gotten sick of her and I definitely listen to her a lot haha. And I’m with on loving ginger bread. I might have to go track down some ginger snaps today…

Omg so glad you are a fellow Ellie lover! Halycon has been my soundtrack for the last couple years and has YET to get old.

Great, there I was thinking everything was literally fun and games – and then you’re picking such difficult-to-answer questions. Let’s try this as one of the world’s most indecisive people:
    1) It’s hard because both have their advantages but the countryside wins.
    2) I told you this was hard. James Blunt. Not as a person but I really notice over and over again how many of his songs I like. But yes, he’s not as charming as his songs …
    3) Cinnamon parfait. The only time I don’t miss chocolate when it comes to dessert.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 24, 2015 at 2:11 pm

Haha I feel ya, I’m soo indecisive – love me some country side, it can really help clear the mind. Ooo cinnamon parfait sounds fantastic

    2. GINGERBREAD. yes. all of it. i made some killer cookies and bread last year! cant wait for thanksgiving/winter break to go home & do it again!!

      October 24, 2015 at 2:10 pm

If you love gingerbread just get ready 😉 Also love that gif – I try to use it on the regular when I can 😉

I seriously need to buy a jar of molasses…

    1) Suburbia (kinda). I LOVE living in the city but I also live in the most Suburban, yuppie part of the city. I just hate the tourists and homeless people that go with living in the city,
    2) Kanye West (I’m a freak, I know)
    3) Anything that involves ice cream. So… I guess seasonal flavored ice cream!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 24, 2015 at 2:10 pm

Mmm ginger/molasses ice creammmm or peppermint!

  20. Les @ The Balanced Berry says

    October 23, 2015 at 1:41 am

Your toast game is on point. Just saying.

    1. City girl for sure. I need buildings and access to Trader Joe’s / Whole Foods. I’m high-maintenance.
    2. Yonce all day
    3. Christmas cookies of all kind! I love gingerbread, snickerdoodle, crescent cookies, almond roca cookies (my mom’s specialty). Just call me cookie monster.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      October 24, 2015 at 2:09 pm

Yeees Yonce! Oh and you bring up an excellent point. TJ’s is life so wherever I am it’s gotta be near.
