10 Bloggers Share Their Favorite Healthy Snacks

January 25, 2016 by Georgie @ The Long Run

10 healthy living bloggers share their favorite snacks so you’ll never be hangry again.

Let’s talk about snacks bay-be, let’s talk about you and me. Ok, cool, now that I got that one out of my system, we can really talk snacks.

As I mentioned before, a lot of people let me know on my reader survey that they were on the hunt for more healthy snack ideas. Healthy snacks are clutch when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet. In fact, one of my biggest stumbling blocks is letting myself get too hungry, over eating and feeling bleh later. A nutritious, balanced snack between meals is a great way to combat that.

When I say balanced, I’m referring to a snack that has some combination of fats, carbs and protein from whole food ingredients. Almost all of these snacks check at least two of those boxes if not three. Having a balance of fat, protein and carbs can help ward away hunger and give you the energy you need to get through the day without relying on too much sugar or caffeine.

For this post I enlisted the help of some of my healthy living blogger buddies. I put out the bat signal calling for everyone’s favorite snacks. I got an amazing response! So many creative healthy ideas. I ended up choosing 10 snacks all of which I also enjoy and I think you will too! Definitely check out these bloggers’ sites because they’re filled with so many delicious ideas. I don’t think it will come as a surprise to see that most of these snacks involved avocado or nut butter in some way. What can I say, errybody is team #healthyfat and proud.

Leah, the vegan goddess behind lovemefeedme.net, suggested one of my all time favorite snacks: nut butter dates. The ones pictured are topped with chia, goji & pecans but she also suggested adding a bit of homemade granola, because she’s a vegan genius.

10 Bloggers Share Their Favorite Healthy Snacks

This was a snack that almost everyone I asked suggested, and if you follow my Instagram you know it’s heavy on my rotation too. I don’t understand how something so simple could be so delicious and satisfying but alas, there lies the magic of the avocado.

Apples with Peanut Butter & Hemp Seeds

10 Bloggers Share Their Favorite Healthy Snacks

A snack as old as time, this classic comes highly recommended by Christina from theblissfulbalance.com who swears by this bad boy to ward of hunger. I trust everything Christina says and does and this snack is no exception.

I love having nut butter banana toast! Or even nut butter toast topped with chia seeds. Nothing keeps me full more than a piece of toast with nut butter!

Love salted edamame and apples+PB. I need to try that whole avocado+red pepper+lime–too simple not to try. My favorite snack will forever be roasted chickpeas. Not the quickest snack, but they’re well worth the wait.

My favorite snack has also been dried fruit with nut butter!! Instead of dates I have been on a dried plum or dried apricot kick. The plums have a quite a bit less sugar than dates and are just as tasty! Also cutting up an apple and sprinkling it with some cinnamon has been a new found love of mine. Great for dessert too!

  18. Cora says

    January 25, 2016 at 12:26 pm

So many new, great ideas – and so many links to new blogs! Awesome all around. I’m a huge fruit + dark chocolate snacker, or fruit + pb. I LOVE the idea of adding pumpkin seeds to avocado toast. I’m curious if the flavor of the pumpkin seeds would actually come across or whether they just add a nice crunch? Excited to try – thank you!

I love all of these snack ideas! Sidenote, I still have yet to try a squarebar and I need to change this asap. They look so good on top of that yogurt! Lately my go-to has been banana with peanut butter or almond butter and chia. I smear a little nut butter on banana, then dip it in chia seeds and repeat before each bite. SO good!

    January 26, 2016 at 12:36 pm

Mmmh, snacks. I like that none of these take a million years to prepare because nobody’s got time for that. One of my current favourite don’t-knock-it-till-you-try-it snacks is the combination of shredded carrots, chickpeas, cottage cheese and nutritional yeast. I know it sounds odd but it’s so satisfying when a savoury craving hits.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      January 26, 2016 at 10:13 pm

Oo I always need more ideas for savory snacks and I love the idea of mixing nutritional yeast in there. Thanks for the suggestion!

  30. Kellen says

    January 27, 2016 at 12:10 am

I LOVE this idea! I love pretzels or veggies and hummus, smoothies, and apples with string cheese.

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says

      January 30, 2016 at 8:51 am

Apples and string cheese! That’s genius – probably such a yummy combo.

  31. Lauren says

    January 28, 2016 at 9:03 pm

Thank for including my favorite snack. It looks like you did it right-plenty of chocolate chips and peanut butter!

    • Georgie @ The Long Run says
