Purple is the new green smoothie thanks to this vibrant, purple protein-power smoothie bowl.
I’m hear to declare that purple smoothies are the new green smoothies. Ok, I know what you’re thinking “WOAH WOAH WOAH Georgie who do you think you are to make such a earth shattering declaration?!” Ok, you’re probably not thinking that but I want to pretend that this is a super dramatic moment, ok? Cool.
Alright, now we’ve got all this drama out of the way let’s talk about why you want t make this purple power smoothie a part of your morning routine. It gets it’s deep purple-ness from the delicious berry combination of frozen blueberries, blackberries and cherries. On their own these fruits are lovely, but together they blend so well to create a balanced sweet, tart, juicy flavorful smoothie bowl experience.
Not only is it packed with these delish berries, but it also packs in a whole cup of spinach sooooo yeah, best of both worlds for sure.
I’m totally a smoothie-bowl-a-day kinda gal and here’s why:
- The thick texture of smoothie bowls eaten with a spoon make you feel like you’re having a healthy dessert for breakfast
- You get 3 servings of fruit, 1-2 servings of veggies, plant-based protein and fiber all in one meal
- Toppings, aka allowing your childhood self to finally play with your food guilt-free
- There are about 1 bajillion different variations when it comes to fruits, veggies & toppings so you’ll never get bored
Speaking of morning routines my quest for a #morningroutinemakeover started with a semi-bang. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about read this post.) I’ve definitely gotten better at winding down earlier 10pm vs. Midnight. Airplane mode on before bed and until 8am has been excellent for shutting down and waking up feeling energized not anxious. I haven’t worked out before work yet, but it’s definitely something I’ll be working on this week. I did find that taking a shower before my early shifts was also a good way to start my day feeling refreshed, in the absence of a workout.
Normally, I’ll grab some overnight oats for work, but I’m definitely tempted to blend up one of these bad boys for the road and drink as a smoothie (sans-toppings sadly.)

- Are you a smoothie bowl lover? If so why?
Gorgeous photos Georgie!! Purple is my favorite color. 🙂 I don’t know why, but I can’t bring myself to jump on the smoothie bowl bandwagon. I make all of my smoothies in a hand blender and after it’s all blended the last thing I want to do is make it look pretty in a bowl, I just start drinking! Haha but I enjoy looking at pictures of other people’s creations!
The nice thing is all smoothie bowls can be made as smoothies so no need to jump if you don’t wanna! I bet this one would be equally as enjoyable out of a straw, plus then you can enjoy it on the go. <3
There is something so much more FUN about eating your smoothie with a spoon…I’m blending one up this morning and cannot wait to dig in after my workout! I’m using cherries because my muscles need the nourishment. They’re a little sore and cherries do WONDERS for sore muscles! XOXO
MM cherries in smoothies is seriously one of my FAVORITE things <3
I’m perfectly ok with purple being the new green, and YAY for your mornings being a little bit better. One step at a time for sure. Pinning this because it’s gorgeous!
Heck yeah! Go team purple. Slowly slowly but surely
That purple though!!! You’ve achieved the purple perfection, my friend. Can’t believe you didn’t make this for me while you were here. tsk tsk.
So sorry! But we did have magic blue sauce sooo that makes everything alright
Purple food is so good for you and this looks insanely delicious! I especially love the addition of the frozen berries on top because that’s beautiful. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip!
Don’t they look like little gem stones? (and they taste how I wish real gem stones tasted)
I’m totally a smoothie-with-a-spoon girl, too. The thicker the better! And I LOVE that gorgeous color!
Purple foo daaayyzz
Gahh this purple is incredible!! Dessert for breakfast is a-OK in my book any day 🙂
Hellz to the yeah D for B 😀
In love with that gorgeous color! My school’s color is that same purple so I am obsessed with it. This smoothie bowl looks incredibly thick and delish 🙂
Ahh if my team color was purple I’d be decked out all the time
I had exactly that thought when I ventured out to try my first acai smoothie bowl this weekend. I felt like I was eating a healthy ice cream sundae at 9 in the morning, haha, Totally alright with me!
Best way to start your morning for sure!
That PURPLE. I just love eating purple foods… Now only if there was a way to make my food turquoise. OH EM GEE I would die of happiness.
Glad your mornings are getting better for you! 🙂
Ahh turquoise would legit just be too beautiful to eat (but I’d do it anyway)
Even though i’m obsessed with blackberries, i’ve neverrrr had them frozen in a smoothie. Always in oatmeal or just as a snack! I bet they add the perfect amount of tartness 🙂
Exactly – they’re also great with raspberries too
I pretty much love pink and blue to the end of time. What do pink and blue make? Purple. This is so pretty I’d eat it just to feel colorful!
haha right? Puts me in a good mood just looking at it
Blueberries and blackberries are so good for you I’m always trying to incorporate them into my diet. Pinning and making this ASAP!
Thanks Diana – just ask my fridge, blackberries are a HUGE part of my weekly diet, I love them so much
Purple is so much more appealing than green smoothies! I actually prefer blackberries in mine vs. blueberries.
Yes! Blackberries are so flavorful and tart I love it
I didn’t used to be into smoothies but now I find them so delicious, filling and easy I have been eating them for afternoon snacks and sometimes even dinner!
If you can believe it, I really didn’t like smoothies for most of my life but oh have the times changed
The color purple makes everything better 🙂 This looks terrific!
Right? Purple for the win! Thanks Gretchen <3
I have yet to make a smoothie bowl! I know insane right?! I have got to get on that. Your photos are beautiful and this smoothie bowl looks so delicious!
You’re gonna love ’em!
I gotta try this. I need a good smoothie haha, thanks a lot
Thanks Keith! I think you’ll really dig this one
I love purple smoothies! This looks amazing!
Thanks Molly – purple smoothies always put me in a good mood
I just got into making smoothie bowls like a month ago – I don’t know what took me so long to hop on the bandwagon! I’m so obsessed with them now. This one looks SO perfect for summer!
It’s one of my favorite bandwagons for sure 😉
Yes, there has got to be some true power packing punch behind the bowl. The vibrant purple color is beautiful.
Haha heck yeah – no weak bowls around these parts
Without fail, I crack up in a bust of laughter at least once in every single one of your posts. I love your clever wit, Georgie!
Aww you’re too sweet Julia <3
The creaminess…the color…DAT DRIZZLE THO. I almost can’t handle myself. I haven’t had a smoothie bowl in forever but that is changing ASAP!!
Thanks girl! Yaaay smoothie bowls back in the routine <3
I just love your blog! We are so much alike (I’m meatless, vegetarian / pescatarian and a huge Vega and coffee fan too!). Plus, I ALWAYS eat my smoothies with a spoon – never drink them! 🙂 I like them thick and frozen just like this and have been eating them this way for about 8 years now. Your blog is awesome, and we share so much as far as digestive issues, ED pasts, and GI stuff. I’ll definitely be keeping up with you, and I’m a huge fan already! 🙂 Blessings, Heather
Oh wow Heather this comment made my weekend! it’s so lovely to connect with ladies like you. <3 Have a wonderful weekend
