Late Night Light Bites: First Week of Training

September 1, 2013 by Georgie @ The Long Run

First week back to school, first week of training for my (first) 1/2 marathon in November, yet the motions are all familiar so we’re off to a good start.

Happy September! As I wrote about in the Top 5 Reasons I Can’t Wait for Fall, September and October are some of my (newly) favorite months.Golden Leaf

I can’t believe a month has already gone by, but in the beginning of August I set myself some Goals.

How Did I Do?

1.) Run 5k in under 25:30

Check! I ran 3.1 miles in 25:18

2.) Hold a plank for longer than 4 minutes

Ughh, I’ve crept up to around 3 minutes and I’ve been slackin’ on the plankin’

3.) Have at least two 10+mile runs this month

Check! I ran 10 miles on the Hudson the week before I left NYC then another 10 miles on Nantucket (while the sun set, so lovely)Long Run

4.) Sign up for at least 2 races this fall and start training

Signed up for a 5 mile race (next weekend) and my first 1/2 marathon in November.

5.) Accept, love and fuel my body to achieve these goals

I’ve stopped counting calories for the most part, and I feel really great. Balance will always be one of my goals and something to improve on, but focusing on training, fueling and listening to intuitive cues has helped take the focus off trying to be perfect about what I eat.
